Soon after

  • Establish a wedding budget. You might find it helpful to use the Wedding SA budget plan.
  • The wedding style you choose.
  • If you need a wedding coordinator, hire one or plan your wedding using Wedding SA.
  • Select the venue for your wedding and choose the date.
  • Contact the priest, celebrant, or registry office to arrange a wedding ceremony.
  • You can choose from bridesmaids and groomsmen for your wedding party.
  • Make a guest list.
  • Book the reception venue.
  • Hire any extra equipment required – marquee, furniture, pottery, etc.
  • Find out if you need a wedding decorator and get in touch if needed.
  • Start shopping for a wedding dress, or a dressmaker, and accessories.
  • You will need to select suits and dresses for your wedding party and organize fittings.
  • Book your honeymoon.
  • Book your wedding transportation: cars, horses and carriages, limousines, etc.
  • Choose a photographer or videographer.
  • Choose a florist.
  • For a church or ceremony, choose music or a musician.
  • Book reception entertainment.
  • Pre-marriage counselling is an option.
  • Take into consideration wedding insurance.

3 months before

  • Send invitations and other stationery orders
  • Select Bomboniere.
  • Select a wedding cake
  • Book your wedding day appointments with a hairdresser, beautician or other professional.
  • Set up any personal appointments that are necessary.
  • If the honeymoon is abroad, arrange passports and vaccinations.
  • Arrange Master of Ceremonies.

2 months before

  • If necessary, compile a gift list and consult a gift registry.
  • Notify the wedding coordinator of your intention to marry at least one month in advance.
  • Organize a wedding rehearsal
  • Choose your wedding rings
  • Invites can be collected and written.

6 Weeks before

  • Relax! Relax!
  • If hired goods were selected, confirm reception arrangements.
  • Get beverages
  • Confirm arrangements with the florist
  • Confirm details for your honeymoon.
  • Get your honeymoon clothes planned.
  • Send your invitations.
  • Keep track of all declines and acceptances.
  • Provide estimates of guest numbers to venues.
  • Plan hen’s or buck’s night.
  • Choose gifts for attendants.
  • Start to prepare your speeches.

4 Weeks before

  • Organize holiday and wedding insurance.
  • If hired goods were selected, confirm reception arrangements.
  • Confirm arrangements with the wedding official.
  • Do a hair- and beauty rehearsal.
  • Final wedding dress fitting and any necessary alterations.
  • Finalize arrangements with the photographer.
  • Finalize attendants’ outfits.
  • Start updating your Wedding SA Guestlist and writing thank-you notes when receiving gifts.

2 Weeks before

  • Relax! Relax!
  • Final fitting of all wedding gowns and arrangements for delivery
  • You must ensure that the wedding party knows all details and what they need to do.
  • Finalize guest numbers and confirm with caterers.
  • Organize wedding reception seating.
  • The bride must notify credit institutions if she is changing her name.
  • Send your guests an alphabetical list with table assignments and place cards.

1 Week Before

  • Relax! Enjoy the weeks leading up to your wedding.
  • Finalize all arrangements, including catering, floral, and photography.
  • Perform a wedding rehearsal
  • Final fitting of all accessories and outfits
  • Make sure that guests, especially interstate or overseas, have transportation to and from the church.
  • For an emergency, make sure a family member has access to it.
  • Take a bag for your honeymoon.
  • To make your mind at ease, layout all the clothes you need for the big day.
